Choo-choo Bear :-)

This week Hunter is spending time with his babysitter's sister, Miss Janet. Since it's just the two of them (long story!), they worked on a project together. Janet makes bears from clothing... in memory of a loved one, or to save a cherished blankie/outfit/etc. in a special form. To quote from her brochure, Joe's Memory Bears:

"Janet has made these bears for several years now. It started with making bears for her 3 surviving children as a gift for them on the 10th anniversary of Joe's death. Joe drowned in 1994 when he tried to save a classmate from drowning in a low-head dam. The bears were made from clothing that Joe had "borrowed" from each of them. Each t-shirt held a special meaning to each of them, as well as being special to Joe. "

Check out her website for pictures and stories of other bears, along with order and contact information: www.joesmemorybears.com

So I rummaged through Hunter's clothing and found a long-sleeve t-shirt (with one of his favorite things on it - a choo-choo!) and an old pair of jeans that were perfect for the project. Note: The ears are from the waistband of the jeans. :-) Miss Janet mentioned Hunter's little hands worked great for stuffing the bear! And as you can see from the pics, Hunter takes it everywhere -- even to bed (which is already full of many animals and blankets).
