Today was Hunter's surgery - tubes in both ears, to help with the fluid. I was a little nervous, not knowing how he would be affected by the anesthesia. He did great! Didn't even make a peep when he was given the shot to calm him (which explains his doped up face in this picture). Although he didn't really need the shot, since we were calmly sitting there, looking through the books I brought along. Once in the wagon, a nurse asked Hunter if he wants to go fast or slow. Fast was the answer, so she took off -- and almost ran into the anesthesiologist! :-0 The nurse was amazed when the most fuss from this little guy was AFTER the surgery... he didn't want to go home! He didn't even want to get dressed. Finally, the nurse came over and asked Hunter if he would like to wear the gown home (after all, it IS his favorite color - yellow). So, that took care of one hurdle. But he still didn't want to go home or to the store (to fill a prescription)... he decided he wanted to go to Grandma and Grandpa Ellis' house. Luckily they were home and delighted to see the little patient in his gown -- which, by the way, wasn't removed until we got home shortly before lunch/naptime.

I'm sure Hunter and I were quite the sight leaving the surgery center... Hunter still in his gown, with the dinosaur underwear peeking out, wearing his Santa Claus socks, and holding onto his blankie, baby bear, Roary the Lion, and Tigger. Everyone was smiling at us as we were walking towards the exit. :-)
